Life Update – Fall 2017
Hello, friends! IT HAS BEEN FOREVER.
Where have I been? Why did I take a break from blogging? Why haven’t I posted on my Bookstagram account?
Well, to be frank, there’s a lot.
The last time I wrote a post was back in May. It’s been like, 5 months (eeeek!). I didn’t plan to take a break from blogging at all, and then when it happened in my head I was like “oh it’ll just be a couple weeks, two months tops”.
Man was I wrong.
I graduated from University!
That’s what kind of spiraled me down into this long absence. In mid-June, I graduated from my university and moved back home. So between finals, the actual graduation, and moving, I really had no time to keep posting here or on Instagram.
Like I said, I moved back home. I always knew that it would be a temporary move, though, because my fiance and I planned to get an apartment together ASAP. So I’ve left a TON of my stuff in storage. That includes some books, a lot of my personal belongings, and like all of my Bookstagram props I use to take pictures.
We signed our lease for the end of October, though, so what I thought was going to be a short absence from this online bookish community was extended for 5 months.
I am actually still at my parents house because I have about two more weeks until I move. So while I wanted to write this post as a quick update for you all, I have to warn you that I won’t be back to my regular posting schedule for quite a while!
I wrote a book!
Okay, this is probably the biggest reason for my absence. If you’ve been following me on Bookstagram (@foxyreaders) or have been reading this blog for a while, you’ll probably know that I have been writing a book for about a year and a half now.
So one I graduated, I decided to dedicate myself to writing full-time. I had just finished the first draft of my book, and was getting really into edits for the second draft.
Well, I finished that second draft at the beginning of September, and took a little break from it to let some other people read it for the first time (so scary! My first alpha readers!).
But as I started getting some feedback, I felt myself itching to get back into editing this book and writing the third draft. I want to participate in NaNoWriMo for the first time this year, so obviously I need to start working on a new project for that. Which meant I had only through the beginning of October to finish the third draft of my first book.
AND I FINISHED IT. Well, almost. I’ve literally sat down here just after writing the last chapter in my book, a glass of prosecco to my right, in order to write this update.
But in reality, I still have to write a couple of chapters into the second half of the story. But I plan on attacking those tomorrow.
If you’re curious to learn more about my writing journey for this book, stay tuned for another writing update coming sometime soon!
I’ve missed you all SO MUCH. I’ve missed interacting with you, taking pictures, writing posts, and reading books. Because yeah, I’ve hardly had any time to read books as I’ve been so focused on writing my own.
I know this was just a quick little catch-up, but I’m really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things!
Let’s talk about it
Did you miss me?? HAH, jokes. But I would love to know what you’ve all been up to! How were the summer months for you? I’d love to know what books you’ve been reading (please inspire me and make me want to go read everything good that’s been released recently!!)
