Foxy Readers 2017 February Book Haul and Wrap Up

February was a pretty good month for me! It went blazing by, as did January (so 2017 in general). It’s such a short month, though, so I have a hard time thinking about what even went down in February! I have a pretty small February book haul, which is good, but also a small number of books read, which is bad.

I read the about the same number of books that I did in January, which is a bit of a fail since I’m 5-6 books behind schedule. But I only bought three books which is a win because I am OFFICIALLY ON A BOOK BUYING BAN. My TBR pile is out of this world and I’m finally going to crack down and read these books before buying any more!

  2. Rarity from the Hollow by Robert Eggleton
  3. The Eye of Nefertiti by Maria Luisa Lang
  4. Vietnamerica by G.B. Tran

Writing Progress

I started the outline of my second book ever!! Since I finished my first draft of my very first novel in January, I needed a new project to work on. I was so excited to start with this project, because it’s going to be a nice change of pace from my first book. It’s essentially a fantasy parody, and I’m also trying out outlining with this book. Which is something I didn’t reeeallly do with my first book. It’s been a really fun process so far, and I’m excited to post a new writing journal update!

Blog Updates

I hired Catycroft on Fiverr.com to make a new blog logo, icon, and the lovely pink floral dividers I’ve been adding to my blog! I was SO impressed with her work, and the prices are absolutely incredible. If you’re thinking about updating your blog a little, I highly recommend Fiverr in general, but Catycroft does fantastic feminine logo designs. And I haven’t even been told to say this!

My blog underwent a huge appearance transformation. I think that I’m still debating about a couple of changes I might still want to make. But overall, I’m really pleased with how generally clean the blog looks now. My thoughts would be on adding a sidebar which displays a small author photo/bio, easier-to-find follow/subscribe bars, etc.

Plus, about halfway through February I shifted to posting M-F. It’s been a really fun challenge for me, but it allows me to post more than just book reviews here. I’m also passionate about writing, so I’ve been incorporating those posts into my site as well. I cut back on 2 reviews/week, when before I was trying to do around 3. It just wasn’t working with me and my reading schedule. I’m actually thinking about maybe even cutting down to just 1 book review per week, but I’m going to try hard to avoid doing that!!

Life

I registered for my last term of college EVER!!! I’m going to be graduating mid-June 2017 and I can’t even express how excited I am about this. I used to have such a love and passion and interest in school and learning, but I absolutely loath my college town. Plus classes have become boring, redundant, and monotonous. I’m so over this lol. I’m really excited to go back to my home town, work really hard on this blog and writing my novels, and then at the end of the summer hopefully move into a nice new apartment with my fiance. We will finally be out in the real world!

The classes I signed up for are just two online classes, too. They’re lower-division and one of them isn’t even for a grade. That means that in just three weeks, I will be physically in my last college class ever. It’s such an exciting thought for me! I will, of course, be using the free time to work on my blog and writing.

Other Blog Posts

As I mentioned, I had a lot more blog post uploads this month which is a great win for me. I started adding in writing-type blog posts, more fun “round-up” types, and just generally had a lot of fun with posts! See the full list of posts below:
